You Are Welcome Here.

The Family Peace Center is here for you, your loved ones, and your children. If you’re experiencing domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, or abuse as an older adult or person with a disability, you are not alone — and you are welcome here. Our services are always confidential and free, and you do not need to leave your relationship to receive support at the Family Peace Center. Survivors who have completed an intake are also welcome to use the Family Peace Center as a respite space. Whether you need a quiet moment, a safe environment to regroup, or a place to pause between appointments, our doors are open to support your healing journey — on your terms.

How can I access these services?

You can walk in during business hours — no appointment necessary. If you'd prefer to be screened and scheduled in advance, just give us a call at 779-348-7600. Because your safety matters, everyone is screened before entering our secure building.

No matter your background — religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, immigration status, race, ability, or income level — you are welcome here.

You deserve to feel safe. A safety plan is a personal and practical tool to help you think through how to stay safe — whether you’re staying, planning to leave, or have already left a relationship.

Even simple steps can be lifesaving in a crisis. That’s why it helps to think through things in advance.

When you come to the Family Peace Center, our Front Line Crisis Navigators can support you in creating a safety plan that fits your unique situation. Navigators are your dedicated allies, helping remove barriers and connecting you with resources every step of the way.

If you’re thinking about getting legal protection from an abuser, we’re here to help. Our advocates can talk with you about your options, help you understand how an Order of Protection (also referred to as a restraining order) might support your safety, and walk you through the process — all in a safe and confidential setting. To learn more about OPs, or to file an OP on your own, visit ilprotectionorder.org.

You don’t have to make a police report if you’re not ready, and an Order of Protection won’t show up on the abuser’s (criminal) record if they follow the rules. If granted, your order can last up to two years, and you can ask for an extension if needed.

Our advocates can:

  • Explain different types of orders and help you decide what’s right for you

  • Help you see how legal protection fits into your safety plan

  • Support you while you complete the paperwork

  • Prepare you for what to expect in court

You are not alone in this process. We recommend connecting with an advocate before you file so we can help you make the best plan for you. Connect with our advocates today.

If you think that you are in an abusive relationship, look at our safety planning information for ways to increase your safety.

If you have kids or teens, we’ve got you. Our child and teen space is warm, safe, and welcoming, and it’s here for your children while you’re receiving services.

Our Children’s Advocate, Ms. Emily, is trained in trauma-informed care and will make sure your child feels comfortable and cared for. We know how hard it can be to get support when you're also caring for little ones — and we're here to make it easier.

If your child needs more specialized support, we’ll help you connect with our partners who provide therapeutic and protective services for kids.
