The Carrie Lynn Children’s Center strives to reduce any potential trauma that could be experienced by child victims by improving the efficiency of the systems that respond to allegations of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse. The multidisciplinary team approach utilized by the Center minimizes the number of times that a child must talk about the abuse and surrounds the victim with immediate support/services. The Y provides Camp HOPE & Project Pathways, a program for youth ages 7-17 exposed to domestic violence. At Camp HOPE, campers attend for one week and engage daily in various activities, from field games to rock climbing, tubing, high and low ropes, art projects, and silly camp songs. This overnight camp uses a trauma-informed curriculum to allow children to begin a pathway to hope and healing. They are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and conquer new challenges, fostering personal growth and resilience.
Project Pathways is the year-round piece of the Camp HOPE program. The monthly gathering creates a safe and nurturing community for the participants and their families.
